Where it all began…

Enroute back to India, a short trip occured that would change my path entirely. What was originally just a patch of grass in the middle of a Kenyan Village soon turned to a large piece of my puzzle.

I reached out to the local schools where I thought I would be volunteering- yet turned to a scam. and the moment I set foot into St Elizabeth’s was the moment my heart expanded.

After taking some classes at two of the local schools on a voluntary basis, I started to show case my trip with my audience and this is where the magic happened.

A once in a lifetime trip turned to a family home, a refugee which now invites people from all over the world to share their knowledge on yoga, meditation, science and anything inbetween.

We run seasonal volunteering opportunities to help support and fund our mission at St Elizabeths along with our weekly online class which funds the project.

Our Mission:

We cultivate inclusive wellness programs at Saint Elizabeth’s Integrated Community School in Kenya through yoga, movement, and mindfulness—serving as a foundation for expanding access to supportive and empowering learning environments for all children, regardless of age, ability, or background.

Our Vision:

We envision Saint Elizabeth’s Integrated Community School as a model for inclusive, wellness-centered education—creating a safe, supportive environment where every child can grow, thrive, and reach their full potential.

The Journey of your donations so far and where it will go next…

We are entirely funded by the geneority of the public with our regular weekly classes or from one off’s. As a small independant volunteering project every donation makes a huge difference within Impact.

St Elizabeth’s has been funded and built by hand entirely by Elizabeth and her Husband Joseph, starting with just 3 children which has now expanded to 270. The need for childcare and education is huge. The number of teachers? 3 teachers to 60 children in one classroom.

Nap time for the 3 year olds? The table with just their head to rest is their bed.

Sanitary conditions on the other hand has improved massively over the last year as we had the privilage of hosting a volunteer called Lorraine who kindly donated us some new compost toilets along with the construction and labourers to build it. And this is what we’re about. Community. It’s a big reason this project is still running. What was once just a Kenya visit, left something that really could make a difference.

A little bit more about the journey…

There was a point within the journey where Krissi felt hopeless and exhausted, she was left alone in the project after her previous co-founder scammed the project of over £2000. She felt embarressed and ashamed.

The one thing she stayed consistent with however; was updating her community because she understands how trust works. With deep, live conversations on our instagram page, she shared. And slowly the strength and the love recieved was what kept her and the project going.

It was during this time that Cody - our now Co-founder got involved after visiting the projecr as a volunteer himself.

Since January 2026 the project has only bloomed, Cody’s passion and love for what was being shared also fuelled a life long dream within his own journey was evident in the way Krissi, Elizabeth and the school took to his energy.

Our goals and visions have become clearer and together we believe we can go far.

About volunteering…

All volunteers that join us at Kenya Community Yoga Project will stay out our resident house a few minutes walk away from the school with gas, cooker, hot water, bed, private home with Wifi and Electricity.

We welcome volunteers of all ages, abilities and backgrounds with a passion for yoga and meditation to come and join us. Minimum stay is 2 weeks.

The home and it’s appliancies is funded entirely by the monthly donations from the classes, if you wish to make a donation during your stay it would be recieved generously.

How you can help….

The power of the people is the way forwards and which is why we kindly ask for any support along the way.

6 months ago the children were practicing their physical exercise in their school uniforms. Same clothes throughout the day. When it came to the classes, their clothes were ripping.

Practing in skirts was another thing we wanted to rectify to help support young women’s hygiene during one the most important parts of their lives as they develop into puberty.

With your donations we have managed to fund for 3 classrooms to have full p.e kits!

‍ “One parent came home and wanted to say thank you, they loved the p.e kits that much that they went to bed refusing to take it off” - Report from Miss Elizabeth

Grade 3 and 4 have been taking anatomy and philosophy classes on understanding the different muscles, bones and muscle pairs along with understanding the antomy of the spine in relation to the nervous system. During our yoga classes children are able to indenty the different states of the mind vis nervous system recognition.

The quality of understanding this information at a young age can have siginifant amounts of impact on how well they manage stress later on in life. We are so proud of what we are achieving so far.

SO, what are we working on so far?

  • Continuing to focus on the rest of the school having their p.e kits

  • A small solar panel to power electricty towards implementation of online classes internationally we have 10 classrooms altogether and 2 school offices. The school runs off 0 electricity or internet connection

  • Flood lights for the premises to enhance security and safety levels around the school

Right now, this is where we are at.

With future plans once these primary goals are achieved which we will kindly update all of our followers with. Or please see our mission staement above which is inclusive of teachers rights and fair teachers salary.

Here is an idea of how much your donation can go towards:

  • £3.50 for a full p.e kit - 1 t.shirt and 1 shorts with full school logo

  • £150 for 1 solar panel

  • £80 for flood lights

  • £30 to support 1 volunteer to stay for free for 2 weeks

Aside from our monthly bills to keep our volunteer house running and still scraping to ensure we have enough to also cover ground work at the schools other factors of costs include emergency funds - such as maintance of the school bus.

Sponsering a child…

Our new project and outreach is to offer the opportunity for participants to sponser a child at St Elizabeth’s. Sponsering a child will give young children with big asperations the opportunity to fulfil their dreams.

To fund and sponser a child’s education at St Elizabeth’s or to have a conversation about sponsering a child going transitioning from St Elizabeth’s and into Secondary School, please get in touch. To sponser a child’s term costs appoximately £100.
